Of the four types of RC boats–nitro, gas, sail and electric– electric RC Boats have certain advantages over their main competitors. Mainly, they are relatively cheaper to buy than the others, and easier to maintain with the obvious lack of fuel costs. Additionally, electric motors are quieter and won’t bother others around you as much while playing with the boat.
Also, if you already own an electric RC car, you can use the same motor, battery and battery charger for your electric RC boat.
On average, entry level boats that are good for beginners can go 15-20 miles per hour straight out of the box and even faster as you develop skills and begin to customize your boat with more powerful motors.
