RC Helicopter Simulators

Flying your RC helicopter with none of the risks of crashing it is a good idea for a beginner. Flight simulator software, available both for purchase and free for download, can help a novice flier tremendously without damaging the expensive model in real life.

To help hone your flying skills, many fight simulators allow you to use the actual RC transmitter to control the simulated model, enhancing your familiarity with the controls you will be using in real life.  If your RC transmitter has a “trainer port” or “buddy port” then it can easily be hooked up to your computer through a USB cable for use with computer simulator programs.

Simulators provide a variety of helicopter models in different flying conditions  simulating weather, location, equipment failure and other flight parameters from the convenience of your home.

The most popular, and free, program is called the Flying Model Simulator (FMS) and can be downloaded at the FMS homepage at http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html.
