Though much slower and perhaps not as thrilling competition or speed wise as RC boats, RC submarines offer RC hobbyists a new frontier. There are two types of popular submarines, one perfect for aquariums and the other for swimming pools.
The first, micro submarines, are perfect for submerging in fish aquariums. They are small, usually 6 inches or less, and can be submerged a maximum of 2 feet (24 inches), due to distance limitations of the RC transmitter.
The second, mini submarines, are longer and can be submerged deeper, making them suitable for play in swimming pools. They are bigger than micro submarines and can submerge up to 6 feet, the average depth of a home pool.
RC submarines can be purchased at most RC hobby stores, as well as online and make an excellent addition to the arsenal of RC boats, helicopters, airplanes or cars of both the serious and beginning hobbyist.
