It’s important to find a safe and large location to fly your model airplane or helicopter. The laws and rules for flying may be different depending on your state or country, so be sure to check before beginning.
Parks and public spaces, such as mall parking lots or local sports fields, offer an abundance of space, usually at no cost. At the park or field, wait until it is sparsely populated or find a spot with few trees and few people to allow yourself maximum room to maneuver. If you are flying in a parking lot, it is best to wait until evening when there are fewer cars and obstructions. Most parking lots are lit 24 hours a day, so flying a small electrical craft below 40 feet should pose no visual problems.
If you prefer a specifically designated area for flying, check with your local RC Club, as they usually provide special fields for their members.
